Dental implants are small titanium screws which are placed into the upper or lower jawbone where teeth are missing.  Once those implants heal, they are locked tightly into the bone, a procedure called osseointegration and they provide stable anchors which can be used to fasten a single crown, bridge or denture.  Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth.  The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat normally and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and feel great.  In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

EVALUATION FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS

If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history.  During this consultation visit, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by either  Dr. Ramer or Dr. Merino and a customized treatment plan will be formulated for you.  Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your treatment a success.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

Dental implants are small titanium screws which act as tooth root substitutes.  They are surgically placed into the jawbone and once they heal, they provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures.  First, the implants are placed within your jawbone and allowed to heal beneath the surface of the gums while the titanium gradually bonds with the jawbone. After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins.  Dr. Ramer or Dr. Merino will uncover the implants and then Dr. Ramer can start making your new teeth.  The entire procedure can take anywhere from three to eight months and most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
